I love what I do! From the time I graduated from Sterling College until today, I have been involved in education both as a teacher and as a student. I love teaching and have been blessed to learn alongside students of all ages...literally preschool to adult. During my early teaching career I taught elementary physical education in Iowa, transitioned to Middle School Math adding my ESL endorsement in California, and returned to Kansas where I served as the Director of the Reno County Learning Center in Hutchinson, an alternative education center serving students seeking their high school diploma. About 1/3rd of our students were adult, second language learners. Upon moving to northern Kansas I coordinated the ESL program for the Ottawa School District , worked as an early childhood center director, and have spent the past six years as an ESL Math and Language teacher at Lawrence High School. It is my honor and privilege to join the staff of Patton Junior High School as their ESL instructor. I am delighted to be on the Fort and look forward to working with the varied and wonderful international students that will join me. I am certain that this experience will be a highlight of my teaching career as I get a taste of the world each and every day. I look forward to meeting and getting to know my students and their families as, together, we learn the English language.
