Course Objective and Description: |
The Core 8 Math class will cover the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards for 8th grade. We will work on number sense, knowing there are rational and irrational numbers and approximate them. Expressions and equations: radicals and integer exponents, proportional relationships, lines, linear equations, and solving linear equations and inequalities. Functions: Define, evaluate, and compare as well as using functions to model relationships between quantities. Statistics and Probability: investigate patterns of association in bivariate data. There is an increased focus on Geometry. Students will be increasing understanding and ability to measure angles and the relationships between angles. Understand and apply the Pythagorean Theorem. Solving real-world mathematical problems involving measurement. There will be a variety of projects and activities assigned, as well as book work and online assignments, tests, quizzes, and vocabulary. This page site will be used to share weekly updates for the class, important class notes, and reviews.

Quiz:Test Corrections
-Quiz/Test Correction Expectations:
- Student will do their own work.
- Student will correct all missed questions on form provided.
- Student will not alter original quiz/test document (don’t change the original answer please)
- Student will staple correction sheet to original document prior to turning it in.
- Student may work on corrections during Advisory, Tutoring, or at home.
- Student is RESPONSIBLE for turning in the original test and corrections by the given due date to receive credit. If lost… there is literally nothing more I can do, other than giving the quiz/test again.
- Student will be required to complete a mastery check/ test retake in order to receive full credit for the assignment, or test retake.
Our goal in math class is to master the grade level Math Standards given to us by the State of Kansas, the work we do in class, homework, quizzes, tests, and any corrections are steps towards mastery.
