Description
Block 2 will build upon students’ prior knowledge and skill in writing and may emphasize the use of language for the different effects and to construct meaning and connections. ELA Block 2 will offer students the opportunity to develop and improve their technique and individual style in poetry, short story, essays, and other forms of writing. The emphasis of Block 2 is on writing; however, students will integrate ELA Block 1 units of study and the concurrent exemplary 5 representations and authors to obtain a fuller appreciation of form and craft. Students will use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and to link to and cite sources as well as interact and collaborate with others as stated in the Common Core Writing Standard 7.6. Google Drive applications will be utilized for creating documents and presentations.

Top Ten List Presentation
 
Create a slideshow detailing the top ten items in a topic of your choosing. Your slideshow must include the following:

- Organized slides using English Conventions
- Pictures of each item
- Introduction Slide (Explain why you picked the topic, what makes the topic important, and explain the topic overall)
- Content slides for each item (at least 5 bulleted details about each item and reason for item's placement)
- Works Cited Slide

You will receive a grade for presenting your slide to the class and the completed product.

- Double-spaced or 1.5 spacing
- Header included in the top left corner (Name, Teacher Name, Class Period, Assignment Name, Date)
- 12-pt font (Times New Roman, Calibri, or Arial)
- Title is centered
- At least 3 pages in length. No more than 10 pages.

*All students receive class time to work on Fictional Narratives and conference with the teacher. Peer editing will occur with rough drafts the week prior.
