Algebra (Period 6)

Course Description

Course Topics:
Include, but are not limited to: Equations, Inequalities, Functions (Linear, Absolute Value, and Quadratic
Functions), Systems of Equations/Inequalities, Exponents, Polynomials, Factoring, Radicals.
 
Expectations
Every student has the ability and right to be successful in a mathematics classroom. If students are honest,
attentive, and persistent they will have no issue learning and thriving in this classroom environment.
 
Practice Standards
As with every other student in the state of Kansas, students will learn Algebra content while also working on
the Standards for Mathematical Practice as outlined by the state. These standards are included below:
1) Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2) Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3) Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4) Model with mathematics.
5) Use appropriate tools strategically.
6) Attend to precision.
7) Look for and make use of structure.
8) Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
