8th Grade Field Trip to Topeka

Just a reminder that the 8th Grade American History field trip to Topeka is this Thursday. :)  Please remind your student(s) to dress appropriately, bring a sack lunch and something to drink.  They have been told not to bring money, phones, (there will be 12 adults with phones) cameras or any type of electronic devices.  They may bring a sling bag/drawstring bag in which to carry their lunch and reading book. (no backpacks) Those who love to draw/doodle have my permission to bring a small sketchbook/spiral.  We are all looking forward to the trip.  We will have a great time and learn quite a bit.  In class, we are discussing 3 landmark Supreme Court cases, Dred Scott, Plessy v Ferguson and of course, Brown v the Board of Education.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

US Constitution Test

The US Constitution Test is scheduled for next Wednesday, 3 October.  The students received a study guide in class today.  We spent about 5 minutes or so discussing all the aspects that will be testable.  The guide is attached.  It is an awesome study tool for them!  The students also need to review prior assignments.  Tuesday, of next week, is set aside as a review day.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

8th Grade Field Trip to Topeka

The 8th grade students will be heading to Topeka on Thursday, 27 September.  A permission slip was handed out today with the details of the trip.  We will depart Patton at 8 am and return before the end of the school day.  We will be visiting the State Capitol and the Brown v Board of Education Museum.  There is no entry fee for either location.  Students will need to bring a sack lunch.  Please read through the permission slip and return signed with your student by this Friday, 21 September.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions/concerns.  I will attach the permission slip in case the other one does not make it home. :)

Constitution and Government Vocabulary Quiz

The US Constitution and Government Vocabulary Quiz is scheduled for next Wednesday, 12 September.  The students were assigned Quizlets or flash cards to help them become better acquainted with the words and definitions.  They will be given time in class to review but also need to study outside of class.  I gave a Pre-Quiz on August 23rd.  The Post-Quiz will be the exact same assessment.  The Pre-Quiz grade did not count.  The Post-Quiz grade will count.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
